Small Choices + Consistency + Time = Significant Results.
DARREN HARDY shared this formula for success in his book - The Compound Effect. After reading this book, I have consciously applied it in my life.
Here is a recent example. I set a personal BHAG. The small step to prepare me for the goal was to walk/climb every day. So, when I was pressed for time, I at least strolled for 30 minutes. I tracked every walk/climb. These small things add up. In December, I walked more than 250 Kms and climbed more than 20000 feet. And because the option I selected was so simple, it could be accomplished while I had one of the busiest business months.
How do businesses miss out on such a simple formula?
1. They start too many initiatives at a time. Many of these initiatives need resources and thus get delayed.
2. The initiatives are started with fanfare. The excitement fizzles out.
3. When the initiatives do not yield instant results, organizations give up. They jump on another initiative. In the process, they never reach the tipping point when the effect of the small choices we make becomes apparent.
